Week 38--Life is Sweet

Tuesday, Sept. 17th

Lisa and I were up at 3:40a to check-out, return our rental car, and catch our 5a flight.  Another easy day of travel.  Our first plane was delayed in leaving, which meant we were gonna miss our connection, BUT halfway through the flight, the flight attended let us know that the same aircraft was our next flight, so clearly it would also be delayed and wouldn't leave Minneapolis without us.  After all said and done, we ended up arriving home half an hour or so past our original time, hearts so full.  It was so good to be with the Grosvenors but also such a wonderful sister weekend.

Then it was straight back into Mom life!  Renna had her first game with Illing.  She scored the first two goals and the team one handedly.

Wednesday, Sept. 18th

The dumb dog had a pocket of fluid in his ear flap and it was growing bigger and causing him pain, so I reluctantly took him in.  The good news is they were able to treat and he now seems fine.  The bad news is before treatment she quoted me at $exorbitant and then when it came time to finalize she off-handedly said, "Oh!  I lied...total actually comes to $exorbitant + 75 more!  She also chastised Harlem two different times while he sat on my lap perfectly behaved.  That hadn't happened in a long time but I was quickly reminded, "Oh, yes....random people feel the liberty to step over the boundary and give unsolicited discipline and advice when you have small children."
We sent a video to Trevor while we waited.
Dinner on a patio while the kids were at Midweek and we now vacate the house on Wednesdays so Nathanael can host his small group here.

Thursday, Sept. 19th
Saying good morning to Trev.
And a "good morning" from Ezra!  Maddy was telling me about her new hair clips and ties.  She said she's seen pictures of her with the same ones, and I immediately knew she was talking about these:
I was so struck with the beauty before me as I waited for Rocco.  The bright blue sky, the wind enough to stretch the flag out, and the cross!
Tina, her parents, Nathanael, and I toured the first wedding venue in their planning!  It was beautiful and a top contender.

Friday, Sept. 20th
Trevor came home for the weekend, but by the time he left campus, he had to drive straight to meet the other boys for the Twenty One Pilots concert in Boston- the reason for his visit home.  Anticipation was HIGH.  These guys have been counting down the days for 9 months!

By all accounts, it was everything they had hoped for and more.  All of them absolutely loved every minute and can't wait to see another show.

I didn't have any responsibilities for the evening, but Colombo did, so I offered Maddy and Mason my Maymee services.  Ezra and I had fun hanging out while her mommy and daddy did a date night.

Saturday, Sept. 21st

We hit the road mid-morning to get to the Cape for Josh and Kim's wedding.  The rain altered plans, but they pivoted and it ended up being so beautiful and special...and now the bride has some sweet umbrella pictures at The Point.

Bob and Jules looked regal and Bob was able to share scripture during the ceremony.  The reception was at the Clubhouse and the live band kept the party going!

Jon covered Renna for us and Pop drove 2 hours to get to her game!

Sunday, Sept. 22nd
We left the Cape by 9:30 and drove straight to the noon service to sit with Trevor and watch C4 play.  It was a Youth Takeover Sunday with the students greeting, serving, leading worship, and other working areas throughout the building, so Rocco's face was the first one we saw as he held the outside door for everyone.  Nathanael did what he's so good at and interacted with parents and students in between services.
Renna had a home game, so quite a few DiSalvatores were present.
Daddy's Dinner was extra special having everyone there to visit with Trev.  So very sweet to have him home!  He doesn't have classes on Mondays and doesn't have to be back on campus until 6:00p on Monday, so it made for a long, relaxed weekend with him.

Week 37--Sioux Falls

Monday, Sept. 9th

Lisa and I and the two dogs hit the trail after many, many months.

Trevor's first official day at Word of Life and Nathanael well into his 2nd to last semester.

I went to watch Gianna and Gabby's soccer game.  As a freshman, Gianna played the entire game!

Tuesday, Sept. 10th

Just waiting for Renna to finish up at soccer.

I was telling Juliet about the Pumpkin Spice Oreos and how out of control Oreo has gotten.  I asked her if she'd seen the aisle lately and she hadn't so I texted her a picture from the store.
My heart!

Wednesday, Sept. 11th

Woke up with the same sinking feeling that has resided within me for the last 23 years.  It all is still so sad to me.  All of the videos and interviews are still so raw and traumatic.

Thursday, Sept. 12th

Renna and I started co-op this week- our 2nd year with this group.  She's taking 3-D Embroidery, Anatomy, and Art Around the World.
I'm assisting in two gym classes and the 4 & 5 year old Dr. Seuss class.
Another dance mom texted me this picture; Maddy is her daughter's technique teacher this year.  It's not a great picture, but it is quite amazing that she's been teaching for 11 years or so and that her arms look that good after having a baby recently!

Friday, Sept. 13th

We had Miss E for a bit of the morning.

She was right on the edge of either going down for a nap or keeping her awake until her mom picked up, so waved the magic wand of "Dancing Veggies" on youtube. She's completely enamored by it.

I had an afternoon meeting at church.

Outdoor Night of Worship with 39 baptisms.  It was so nice to be three as a family.

Saturday, Sept. 14th

ADVENTURE!!!!  Lisa picked me up at 4:30am and we were off on a big adventure together!  I conspired a trip out to Sioux Falls, SD to visit the Grosvenors and see Brent's newest show. Travel was seamless and we were settled into our downtown hotel by 1:00p.  We knew there were 3 shows and teardown over the weekend, so we were happy to entertain ourselves in between the G's schedule.
We walked to a lovely patio on the river for dinner.

Then we sat through the 7:00p Saturday performance, Parables and Proverbs.

Sunday, Sept. 15th
We went to church with Brent and Tami.  What a beautiful morning of worship and loved their pastor's part one of The Lamb's Agenda.
The City has a hefty line item in their budget for flowers!

Brent was sweet to ask us to come early and be flies on the wall for warm-ups and notes, a space I feel very at-home in.  The cast was more than gracious to welcome us.  Anyone who comes from Connecticut is highly regarded because Brent speaks of the CT gang so highly and they respect us for paving the way, launching the shows, and creating the DVDs that they have learned from.  However, I gained extra celebrity status for being Maddy's mom and Ezra's gramma.  Maddy's done multiple shows out there with that gang, including this past Easter when Maddy, Mason, and Ezra flew out.
We sat through the 4:00pm show, the last one for this run, and then went to Outback for dinner.

Monday, Sept. 16th
Well good morning, Miss Ezra!  I told Auntie Lisa that you were probably hanging at a cute coffee shop on your Sabbath...and I was right!

In SF, Lisa and I both worked out and then found a quiet sidewalk and coffee shop to kill some time.
Then we met up with Brent at Josiah's for a super yummy lunch (Tami was at work) and couple hours of some wonderful conversation and catching up.  It's so good to hear and see how happy and settled they are, both with family close by and a wonderful community of friends.  They're in such a good groove, still doing what they love and impacting those around them for the Kingdom.

Then we hit the Falls.

Brent and Tami had us over for dinner.  We started on their back patio on a lovely summer evening and chatted and then moved inside for dinner and dessert.  Again, such a wonderful time being with long-time friends who have walked through so much life with us, who still care deeply, and who we have so much history with.

After, they drove us to their rented rehearsal space.  What a walk down memory lane as I saw my kids' faces on posters and thought about 16 years of opportunity, ministry, friendship, and memories.  An entire extended season of my life and my kids' lives growing up in theater.

And Trevor's Drummer Boy drum.
Speaking of Trevor, I was happy to get a picture of his dinner- he is LOVING the food at school!
