Week 25

Monday, June 17th
I took the kids (+ Izaya) out to Dad's to celebrate Father's Day with him.  The plan was to do hot dogs and s'mores around the campfire.  We were cut short by a severe thunderstorm that blew through, but we still had a lovely evening.

Dad and I ran a quick errand and saw this beautiful landscape on the way back.
The best Dad I ever had :)  He was the best growing up, so fun and loving.  I still rely on him today.  He is a constant encouragement and so supportive, a rock in my life.
We got about a mile from home and had to turn around (2nd storm related detour of the night) due to a tree that fell across the road.  We arrived home to no power.
Tuesday, June 18th
We had Juliet for an overnighter.  [Happy Dance]  She and Maddy took some pictures of a sick and tired Renna.

Wednesday, June 19th
It was a Dr. day; way more medical 'stuff' than we are used to.  First was Rocco's 4 year well visit, which included a finger prick and 4 shots.  The finger prick and bandaid ticked him off, but he was very brave about the shots.

With lollipops in hand we headed to the hospital to pick up a CD of xrays...
...so that later in the afternoon we could go to an ortho specialist to look at Madison's thumb.  She had hurt it 3 weeks prior sliding down a bounce house of all things.  We were referred to a specialist because of a slight hairline fracture (questionable) or possible ligament strain.  Regardless, it's healing fine.  She is just supposed to wear a brace for the next couple weeks just so it can remain immobilized and heal.

Renna was too sick to put into the nursery, so I kept her and Rocco home from church and we walked down to the park.
Thursday, June 20th
What a bully with that squirt gun!
Friday, June 21st
Trevor set up a game room with different stations.
Saturday, June 22nd
Sunday, June 23rd

Trevor loved the way I combed his hair after swimming.
After a wonderful afternoon by the pool, Colombo and I attended a 'Marriage and Money' workshop at church.  Twelve hundred families attend Crossroads and we were one of six couples at this free workshop.  Sad, I tell you!  It was well done and full of good reminders.

We came home to this sweet scene.

15 Months

Little Miss Renna Marie is 15 months.  For anyone who has kids, you know that 15 months is a distinct milestone.  It can be summed up in one word: BUSY.  And it's actually quite amazing, it's as if ON their 15 month birthday a switch is flipped.  The busy switch.  Uncanny how predictable it is in boys and girls alike!

At 14 months:
  • officially WALKING!!!
  • 'talks' on the phone or any other toy resembling a phone shape
  • tries her hardest to put on socks or shoes that she finds around the house
  • LOVES to play peek-a-boo
  • it was fun to have a 14 month old and a 14 year old at the same time
At 15 months:
  • 29 3/4 ", 25th %ile and 20 lbs, 10th %ile
  • she's still in the infant bucket seat, so I guess it's time to change that for her
  • she will NOT keep clips or elastics in her hair so she looks pretty raggedy most of the time
  • still a good eater, but growing a bit more picky
  • two good, long naps a day
  • still nursing but losing interest...ain't nobody got time for that!
  • cutting 6 or 7 teeth
  • we think she's left-handed, though when she walks / runs her right arm is held up close by her
  • her words: Hi, doggie, and Hush! (said to the dog--she growls it in a low voice to yell at him like I do for his barking)
  • she loves the dog and starts every morning by flopping herself all over him
  • she does not enjoy being picked up and held by the many 6-12 year old girls who just so badly want to pack her around
  • she loves when I 'chase' her up the stairs or down the hall, "I'm gonna get you!"
  • she can open the pantry door and thinks she's pretty hot stuff walking around with a whole bag of cereal
  • she's busy- never stops moving...I follow her around A LOT!  The days of sitting and playing are gone for now.  Now it's open this, shut that, over here, over there, up, down, open, shut, up, down, this way, that way, take it out, put it in, run, run, run.
6.6.13

Madison took her out for a little photo shoot one afternoon when she was babysitting.  Renna had had a fever for a few days (I think because of the crazy teething) and then broke out in a little post-fever rash. But sweet, sweet pictures, nonetheless!

...and my favorite:
In general, we just can't get enough of her!  Obsessed would be a fair description.  Can't. get. enough!!!  Wishing in vain that time would just stand still.  She makes life sweet for all of us!
