San Antonio, TX - Day 4-8

On Sunday, Colombo got up and went to Cornerstone Church where John Hagee is the Pastor. Then we went back to LaCantera, the outdoor mall for lunch. Then we headed to Jonathan's game. He got the first goal and the 4th, an open-netter. He looked great and we won 4-2. Then we went out for "real" Mexican.

On Monday, C3 and Jonathan got up and went golfing. Andrea and I took the kids to their gym, where they have an indoor pool with a water slide. OK, well let me say, this was no ordinary gym...this was a resort. There were two indoor pools and one outside, multiple hot tubs, saunas, steamrooms, etc. The family locker room we used was all granite and oak lockers. The gym had a state-of-the-art childcare room with an outdoor playscape. There was a cafe with heathly wraps, sandwiches, etc. There were lounges with tv's, a rock wall, and on and on. You could literally be there for days. Unfortunately, the water slides were closed, so we went back again the next day. Then, we went to see the Alamo downtown and to Riverwalk. It was amazing. It was 80 and sunny and the Riverwalk was indescribable. Beautiful bridges and restaurants lining the way. Jonathan and Andrea were so sweet. Jonathan arranged Spurs tickets for Colombo and I and they took the kids for pizza, minigolf and Sonic milkshakes. Colombo and I ate on the river at a steak house, then watched the Spurs beat the Hawks.

Tuesday we went to Natural Bridge Caverns. A natural wonder. We ate a picnic lunch outside and then took the 75 minute tour through the caverns seeing all of the stalagmites and stalagtites. It was very cool and the kids thought so too. Then we headed back to the gym/resort for the indoor waterslides. After, we went back to the house where I made chicken parm and alfredo. It was nice to chill.

Wednesday Andrea had to work and Jonathan had a morning skate, so just the six of us went back downtown to the San Antonio Children's Museum. Then we took the kids back down to the Riverwalk and had lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe. Then it was back to the house for some much needed naps. Then we headed for Jonathan's 3rd game we were able to see. Unfortunately they lost.

Today we're on our way home. Nathananel cried his little heart out because he wanted to stay. The trip did go by really quickly...well at least for us. Jon and Annie might feel differently. They were wonderful hosts and were so gracious about sharing all of their space, food, vehicles with 4 kids!! Now Stewie can have all of the attention again. Right now were killing 3 hours in the Atlanta airport. The kids have done so well. We feel so blessed that we were able to do this trip as a family and made many wonderful memories that I know the kids will have their whole life.

San Antonio, TX - Day 1-3

We're here in sunny San Antonio visiting Colombo's brother Jonathan and his wife, Andrea, who at the moment is sporting the cutest little 19 week baby bump. She feels great and we're all excited about their new addition.

We flew here on Thursday night. Our plane leaving Hartford was slightly delayed, but when we got to snowy Cincinnati, we were held up at the airport for an hour and a half. We were so excited to hear that our plane would be boarding. We thought we were in the clear, but then we sat on the tarmac for an hour and 45 minutes waiting in line to get de-iced. We ended up not getting in til 2 am! However, given all the circumstances, we were happy to only miss our original ETA by three hours. The kids travelled wonderfully.

Yesterday we went and had lunch and hung out at an outdoor mall. It was very nice, complete with a play place for the kids. We went to Jonathan's hockey game last night. They won 1-0. It was nice to meet some of the other hockey families. The facilities and family room were very nice, as it is the same place the Spurs play.

Today we went to the San Antonio Zoo. The kids enjoyed it very much. Right now we're headed to the pool. It's 77 and not a cloud in the sky. Later we'll cook out. I'm lovin' this weather for February!

I'll have to add in pictures when I get home. Trust me, I'll have plenty of pictures and video to show, including Trevor vs. python. Well, not really...you'll see.

P.S. For anyone who cares, Stewie is doing great and is much more calm and better behaved.

What are sisters for?!

This reminds me of the days when Lisa and I would get a hold of our brother, Tim. We would do complete hair, make-up, AND dress. He turned out pretty cool. Nathanael has a very similar temperament to Tim.

I caught Trevor doing what he does often. Sorry it's a little dark. It reminds me of a Dr. Dobson book where he's talking about how toddlers will turn their nose up at anything served to them at the dinner table, but THIS they'll do.

Don't try this at home!

So I ran across town to drop C4 off at a friend's. He was invited to go swimming indoors. I left Trevor napping and Madison and Nathanael were happily playing together. Daddy, of course, was in his office upstairs. I was only gone about 1/2 hour. This is what I returned to.

Madison told me they were so disappointed that they were not invited to swim, that they came up with the best alternative. Nathanael said, "Playing 'Mom & Dad', X. Playing at the pool, circle."

2 New Videos

I shot these 2 videos last week. Madison is always coming up with great games to play around the house. She's got a great imagination. This first video is something she found to do with Trevor. The second one is Nathanael's new trick. He discovered that he could snap. That was FUN. Then he discovered he could wink. That was FUNNY! Then I had him try both at the same time...FUNNIEST!
