Week 44

Monday, Oct. 28th

Rocco, Renna, and I drove out to Mom's along with the two dogs to deliver her birthday gift.  Sadly, I didn't get a photo, but we had a lovely time and the 4 dogs romped around the entire time.  

Later, we finally got to meet Kelly's new puppy, Boomer.

We started our Trunk or Treat prep.  Trevor and Renna in particular were helpful.

Tuesday, Oct. 29th

Lisa told me she stumbled upon C4's picture while working on some of her financial advisor stuff.  Small world!  Here he is on his firm's website:

I failed to get a picture, but Colombo and I ran up to Boston for the evening.  The plan was to visit his cousin's daughter post-surgery at Boston Children's and then have dinner with Nick and Katie.  A half hour outside of the city, we found out Little Miss Amelia was not up for a visit due to extreme pain, but we decided to forge ahead with dinner plans and I'm so glad we did!  We had a lovely, kidless dinner with Nicky and Katie.

The weather pushed us inside the community center for the night.  We improvised and made the best of it.

It's such a fun night and a great outreach to the community.  About 80% of the guests (thousands) were not from Crossroads.

The Candy Manager of the night.  He was exhausted by the end.

Aiden wore the perfect shirt to help us hand out candy.

Renna preferred to serve at the bounce house than play with her peers.  She helped kids on and off.

The scavengers with the cotton candy after all guests were gone.

Friday, Nov. 1st
Still sleepy-eyed, with leftover makeup from the night before, Daddy tried on all her gear to be sure she had what she needed for Learn-to-Skate.

Renna and I spent the morning at the church assisting in Trunk or Treat cleanup.  She jumped right in and did any job asked of her.

Saturday, Nov. 2nd

I hosted a couple of girlfriends from my gym for dinner.  

Sunday, Nov. 3rd
Trevor was pulled in to help in the preschool classroom at church.  The teachers raved about how helpful he was.

I made it to Rocco's game.  I don't see many of his.  Colombo has to be there since he's one of the coaches, so by default, I'm left to handle whatever the other kids have going.  He's fun to watch!

Monday, Oct. 21st

I love when I catch them all playing together.  They even talked Kelly into it.

For reasons unknown to us, the neighbors have a parked ice cream truck in their driveway.  It is now (as I type) one month after I took the picture and it is still there and has not moved once in the past month.

As the sun turned golden and dipped behind the trees, I watched this sweet girl stop in the middle of practice to tie her teammate's shoe for her.  Made my heart as warm as that golden sun!

More auditions for the kids.  They're all so brave!

Thursday, Oct. 24th
Often when I'm working at the kitchen counter, these two are perched just like this, in that spot.  They just stare at me.

Friday, Oct. 25th

Trevor, Renna, and I went over to help Sue decorate the hallways and chapel for the women's retreat send-off.

Then nursing home, then I took Trevor into Hartford.  His first experience with The Hartford Project. Over the summer, it's a 5-day event, but they have a 3-day Fall Serve.

Crossfit holds what is called an "Open".  It's a 5-week world-wide thing and each individual Crossfit gym makes it special in their own way.  Our gym did something every Friday night for those five weeks, so I got some good time with my girls in real street clothes!

Saturday, Oct. 26th

Renna had her first ever soccer tournament.  It was so much fun!  One day, well-run, sponsored by Target, amazing tailgate food, 4 games, and great time hanging with the fam!  WAY bigger deal than I could've imagine!  

Renna was nervous on the way there.  "Oh, honey...it's no big deal.  Just have fun playing your four soccer games."  ...and then as we pulled in (in the llllooonnnggg line of hundreds of other cars) I saw several food trucks and thought, "Oh boy!  This is a bigger deal than I thought.  This is food truck serious!"  

Watching Sienna and Renna play together will never get old.

Renna has no problem getting physical, after all, she's grown up with four brothers.

The day was a gorgeous fall day, but just on the cusp of chilly.  In the sun, it was warmer, so people grabbed their sunny spot in between games.

It probably will not surprise the reader to learn that Renna assigned herself as Coach Brenden's assistant. She would follow him on the sidelines any time she wasn't on the field.

Gianna's team was there as well, so we were able to see two games played side-by-side at the same time.

Auntie Lisa made it to the first game and Pop came for the next two.

Straight from there, we drove 15 minutes to C4's game.

From there (busy day!) we went to celebrate Sienna's 7th birthday!  Those two girls!!
