Week 2

Monday, Jan. 6th
These two.  Please note the space for my feet.  Every day for school.
Tuesday, Jan. 7th
Treasures from my work in the closet-homemade shirts I made for my kids for Uncle Johnny's games in Lowell and very old Spring Pond passes.  Lots of amazing memories at that pool, especially the toddler and preschool years.

Dad jumped when I called to offer to meet him at the auction.  Trevor's first time and we all left empty-handed.
C4 and Kelly road-tripped down to see a Devil's game together.  They left early in the day to stop by some new mammoth mall in Jersey; it has a ski slope in the mall as well as a waterpark.  I think he said they've been building it for 15 years.  Bummer they didn't get the memo that malls are no longer a thing.  Anyway, they safely returned later that night after an overtime game.
Wednesday, January 8th
Maddy, Juliet, and I went into the City.  We used to do this trip every March when Juju was here for spring break, but it had been couple years since we did it, so we jumped at the chance to bring it back.  The girls weren't particularly interested in a show, so we opted for lunch, shopping, walking, the Empire State Building, and dinner.  Such a fun day with these beauties!
Adults on see-saws!  Some research must have been done somewhere, some time, and stated that "adults who see-saw for 2.5 minutes a day are happier, healthier, and more productive" and so they added a street full of see-saws.

Macy's.
The Croc store.
I read that the best time to do ESB is at dusk to catch it in daylight and at night.  The girls were slightly antsy, but I made them wait it out.

Thursday, Jan. 9th
The closet saga.  ...and now a couple weeks later, I'm seeing on the top of that trash pile a pair of red heels.  People!  Those were the shoes I wore to my senior prom 26 years ago!  Did I really ever think I'd wear them again?  Did I think I couldn't ever purchase another pair?  After all, those were the days when you brought a color swatch from your dress and they would custom dye the shoes to match.  RIP.  This day I listened to most of Passion 2020 while I worked.
We had Asher duty for nearly two weeks while Bob and Jules were in Israel, so most afternoons or evenings, me and a kid or three would try to go hang out with him for an hour to give him some human time.  We'd usually watch America's Funniest Videos.
Friday, Jan. 10th
Ninny and Papa took Maddy out for lunch as she prepared to head back out to Cali.
The Varsity practice overlapped with the JV game, so I went down to finish JV team pictures and pick up Nathanael after the boys watched the first half of the JV game (and squeezed in a McD run!).  Teenagers are fascinating.
Walked into church for a parent meeting and quickly spied C4 on drums and Amanda on vocals in rehearsal.
Saturday, Jan. 11th
Daddy's birthday.  Our day only allowed us to celebrate with a late breakfast at Cosmic Omelet.  And Trevor even missed that because he was at a JBQ meet.

Renna's first day of basketball!  I'm crossing my fingers.  Mama loves warm gyms!  Mama loves four 8 minute quarters.  Mama loves the price tag of playing basketball.  Sienna, Gianna, and Renna are all on the same team.  It's just a town rec program, but just enough to expose her to the game; after all, this is the year to try all the things.
Somehow after a meet up, Maddy took the littles home to get them in bed, so just Colombo and I were left for Nathanael's game in Middletown.
Came home and got super emotional on Maddy's last night home.  In some ways it gets easier to say goodbye, but in some ways, it's just as hard every time.  This one snuck up on me.  We had her a long time- a month, we had a great time (quality and quantity) while she was here, and I was actually kinda looking forward to the "limbo" feeling being gone and everything going back to routine after the holidays.  But then I got home and saw this- the two of them sharing their bed.  Maddy home- the way that still feels right in my mama heart, and I got all panicked not wanting to say goodbye.  But I did, and it's ok.  She's where she is supposed to be.
Sunday, Jan. 12th
Sunday-Funday.  I've recently been making it to most of Rocco's hockey games on Sunday mornings; unusual for me, but I'm loving watching him play.
And then the routine is for me to snag Trevor from church and scoot him to his flag football game.  He's fun to watch, too!

Since it was 72 (!!!!!!) degrees on Jan. 12th (and 65 the day before), we HAD to get out!

I adore this picture of our dear, sweet friends walking in the footsteps of Jesus, enjoying their trip.

Week 1

Welcome, 2020!

Wednesday, Jan. 1st
What better way to kick off the New Year than with a couple of throwbacks that popped up somehow, somewhere in memories.

The '09 club, September of '09
The beginning of the same-sized-ness that lasted six or seven years.
We kept our New Year's tradition and went skating.  Lots of friends and family. (Thanks for the pix, Meg!)

Maddy and Fan peeled off and went to Silk City.  Maddy is very intentional about making time and space for the relationships that are important to her.
I prepared a fancy dinner and we did our 2020 goals as a family.  We always read the previous years' goals that we wrote a year prior and discuss how we did and then share new ones for the upcoming year.  The kids are hilarious with it as some are silly mixed in with more meaningful ones. It's a night filled with much laughter.

Day 9 and the Christmas flowers were still looking good.
Thursday, Jan. 2nd
My niece, Lainie, is homeschooled, but playing for her district's middle school basketball team.  Very brave to try-out.  Very brave to voluntarily insert herself into an established group of middle school girls.  I mean, c'mon!  But she's doing it.  She had a game on the RI / CT line, so I took advantage and went to see her play.  She started!!!

Two of my favorite / BEST men currently walking this earth.  I love them dearly.  They are both legit heroes....but the kind that just are, not the kind you will ever read about.  They are steady, humble servants in every sense of the word.
Friday, Jan. 3rd
The only picture from the day.  We had Leah, Andrew, and Marc-Andre over for one last dinner together before they left for DC.
Saturday, Jan. 4th
[Just keep scrolling, Meg!]  One of my January goals was to completely purge my closet and clean my bedroom.  It was time.  It felt like the closet of a 13 year old girl and it made my brain hurt.  There is no excuse at all for this.  It's embarrassing.

We went to church and then met Maddy at Chick-Fil-A for dinner.  I thought we were all going to go to Nathanael's game in Avon, but she offered to take the kids home and put them to bed.  (The weekends are our earliest mornings!)  So that meant Colombo and I went alone to the game.  It's the closest we've gotten to a "date night" since October.

Coach was messing around with the lines, and Nathanael started.

Sunday, Jan. 5th
Lots of running around.  The kind of morning that I'm in my van more than I'm not.  I had to bring Rocco to the DD next to the rink to swap for Renna.  Every Saturday and Sunday morning, after the girls skate, the dads take them too Dunkin.  I sat down at the "girls' table" until the 4th girl walked over and looked at me as if to say, "you're in my seat."  So then I scooted over to the 2-top with Rocco until Liam ran up and looked at me as if to say, "you're in my seat."  So obviously I was encroaching on an established rhythm, so I moved to a table BY MYSELF as to not be in anyone's way.  Ha!
Maddy taught her workshop at Northstar with a great turnout.  The rest of us chased multiple hockey games and Trevor's flag football.  I think Ninny and Papa have been to every one of Trev's games so far.
We ended up over at Bob and Jules' for some football to finish out the evening.
