Week 38

Monday, Sept. 15th
Picking up my girl.
Tuesday, Sept. 16th
I succumbed to the pressure of fall decorating, even though I hate to see summer go.
Poor Milo had a bit of scare.  He hadn't been well all weekend.  He was misdiagnosed once at [not-so-urgent] urgent care and once at the E.R.  Finally Tuesday morning they brought him to their regular pediatrician, who I believe deserves a gold star of some sort.  She suspected appendix and sent them to the hospital for further testing.  Sure enough...  Poor Little Mister had a successful, swift surgery- a routine appendectomy.  It was a texting frenzy and acute concern, but in the end, all is well.  Praise the Lord!
Wednesday, Sept. 17th
The Big E!!!  Seemed like the perfect day to go.  C4 had a half day of school, weather looked delightful, and there was no rehearsal, hockey, or dance.

I got the Cour girls out of school early, grabbed C, and headed up to meet Colombo there.  He'd been in Boston for the morning visiting Milo.

With 8 kids, I thought it'd be beneficial to do our shirt matching.  Originally I'd told Lisa 'blue', to make it easy.  Once we were all dressed in varying shades of blue, it occurred to me that they'd only blend in, not stick out.  Colombo had an orange shirt from church, I had one from VBS, so we stopped at ACMoore for $2 tees. They worked in the sense that we could quickly and easily spot one another, however, I underestimated the attention they'd bring!

Maine baked potatoes!

Group massages:

Watching the parade:
It was Connecticut day!

East Hartford!
This guy spotted our orange right away and came over for high-5's all around.

In the CT building they let the kids make a little whale and take it home.

'Crazy Mouse' is the ride they have to go on every year.  It's by far the wildest thing Rocco's been on to date.

Fried dough on the way out.  Poor Avery and Amanda didn't even know what it was :(
Thursday, Sept. 18th
Maybe a good Christmas idea for C3??

I spent the afternoon / evening down at Lisa's doing 'our thing' together in the kitchen.  This time, that meant feeding Ray's football team a pasta dinner the night before their game.  It was fun trying to figure out 'just how much food does a football team eat?'  We had enough, Ray was on Cloud Nine for the evening, and we enjoyed lovely conversation with new friends.

Friday, Sept. 19th
Sad day taking Andrea, her mom, the girls and a whole lot of luggage to the airport.  Over 600 lbs!!  (of luggage, not women!)
Germany-bound!  They were so excited to see Daddy, though!
We rejoiced for the news that Milo went home!
Saturday, Sept. 20th
Rehearsal all morning and then a Competition Team meeting at Northstar.
I was late for Nathanael's game, but got to see two periods.  While there, I reached into the pocket of a jacket I hadn't worn in 5 months to find...
Colombo covered C's game down in Norwich.
I went to the store, bought food, and cooked.  I had to do something.  About 24 hours prior I was absolutely crushed by a phone call I never, ever expected and there was just no way to brace for.  Lisa- my sister and best friend- received the news that her biopsy came back positive.  Colorectal cancer.  I did not respond well.  At all.  She's 39 and the picture of health.  She's currently training for her 2nd marathon.  Doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't even eat poorly.  NO REASON.  It isn't fair.  It just doesnt.make.sense.

I cried for the better part of 24 hours, had some sad news-telling phone calls, and then I cooked for 25 people.  Her closest friends who dropped everything at a moment's notice, gathered to be with her in her home, love on her, feed her family, and most importantly- to PRAY.

Pastor Brent read from the Bible- the Truth, God's Word- several scriptures of healing.  Then he spoke about praying in faith.  When we pray in faith, we have to push back the doubt.  Then we anointed Lisa with oil and prayed.

Christ already took her disease to the cross.  We rest knowing that God is not surprised by this and He has a perfect and GOOD plan for her.  I am filled with a peace that passes all understanding.

We don't have any answers yet, as more testing and doctors' visits are necessary, but would you please keep Lisa in your prayers?

Sunday, Sept. 21st
Trevor went to Lainie's 8th birthday party- Frozen style!  The rest of us had rehearsal and hockey x2.

Week 37

Monday, Sept. 8th
Tuesday, Sept. 9th
High school-- Trevor-sized to burly, shaving men.
We had Asher for 9 days while...
...Bob and Jules were in Italy.
Wednesday, Sept. 10th
My girl can play hard!
Thursday, Sept. 11th
I woke with a heavy heart, full-knowing the date.  I remember that day as if it were yesterday.  I don't want to forget.  I often think of the victims, heroes, tragedies, and miracles of that day and the aftermath.

Renna had her first dance class.  "Creative Dance."  Her big day!!  She's been waiting for her turn for a year now.  What a cute class!!  Madison is the assistant and Miss Kandie is amazing with them.  Ten kids and eight names begin with "A".  Crazy, right?

Mom bought her sweet outfit 11 years ago for Madison.

Came across this picture for #tbt.  LOVE that show.  LOVE that cast!
Open house at East for C4.  I felt like a fraud there, looking around at all the 'older' people around me, wondering how it was possible for me to be sitting at my sophmore's school.  Still feels strange.
Friday, Sept. 12th
C4 played his first high school hockey game.  It's not 'real' hockey yet.  The official season and tryouts and all that does not begin until November, but "Fall Hockey" gets the team playing together.  He's at the far end in the maroon helmet.

Saturday, Sept. 14th
Screens on a no-screen weekend.  My weekends have been consumed with "Pillars" rehearsals, so rules have been loose with Daddy doing his best to execute our crazy weekends on his own.
Madison had a birthday party.
Sunday, Sept. 13th
Daddy covered two hockey games at two gorgeous rinks.  Amelia Park:
Avon Old Farms
I was at rehearsal until 7:00.
We had a gorgeous drive watching the sun set on our way to the airport to pick up an exhausted Bob and Jules.
