LobsterFest '17

We celebrated our 13th Annual LobsterFest.  It's been a huge blessing to our family to have such a beloved tradition, and to have a weekend set in stone year-to-year that no one messes with.  It's important to all of us.  This year, I hosted Saturday at my house.  It was a fun, small(er) group.  The weather wasn't really hot enough for the already-cooled-down pool, but we relaxed and played yard games.  Just chill and a good time to reconnect.

Before guests arrived, the kids and Colombo helped me clean, make food, prepare, setup.  Nathanael was particularly helpful, "What can I do next to help?  What else needs to get done?"  Once everything was ready to go, I said, "Hey, thanks, Bud.  You were super helpful.  You definitely win the award for MVP."  To which he replied, "There wasn't much competition."  True dat!

Pictures are mine, Elizabeth's and Lisa's and probably quite out of order.
I don't even have words to describe this cage fight / gladiator battle that ensued between C and Trev.  It was extremely entertaining.

Both emerged covered in welts, but wearing grins.

What broken wrist?

A few crazies insisted on a dark, chilly swim.
The cousin sleepover swap-around left me with the boys.
Sunday, the day of the main event, was another cool and rainy day.  Thankfully Lisa's house holds a crowd well.  Everyone's happiest when we're together.  The food was outstanding.  Lisa and Shaun are always so generous to make their house everyone's house.  We're all quite comfy there!  Much food, much laughter, much love.
Aunt Bonnie, Melody, Lisa and I all shared a moment after I used cinnamon instead of cumin on the avocados I was going to mash into guac.  (My cinnamon and cumin are in the same brand / size shakers and we've had the interchange mishap happen both ways more than once.)  We all stood and stared at the bowl in sad, sad disbelief, mourning what could have been, trying to figure out if there was any way to salvage the avocados.  Hilarious.  Then someone- probably the PhD of the group suggested rinsing it.  We all got way too excited about our saved avacado.  Also, the roses next to Lisa's sink were some of the most stunning ever!
Rain, rain, go away!

The guy is a champ at dishes!

Lots of Scattegories.  I love Melody's face as she's probably about to 'veto' someones's answer.

 Lenny lives!

Lisa put together a slideshow from many past LobsterFests, which played on a continuous loop all day.  Just for some, below are just a handful of some of my favorite throwbacks.
